Taiwan is not just my place of origin; it's my home, the starting point of my journey. Venturing to the United States for higher education presented challenges that, in hindsight, have proven to be remarkably rewarding. This cross-cultural experience has not only broadened my perspective but has also been a source of profound personal growth. Grateful for this eye-opening opportunity, I take pride in the milestones I've achieved.

My heart lies in engineering. The intricacies of problem-solving and the boundless possibilities it offers fuel my passion. Through my educational journey, I've not only acquired knowledge but also developed a keen desire to explore my potential within the realm of engineering. I am excited about the challenges that lie ahead and am committed to making meaningful contributions in this field.

As a Taiwanese citizen, I fulfilled my mandatory military service, a duty that has been a tradition in my family. While my father served for 2 years in his generation, I completed my service in 4 months at the age of 18. Despite the brevity, this period taught me invaluable lessons in discipline, teamwork, and camaraderie.

During my time in the military, I embraced the importance of following orders, supporting my fellow service members, and forming connections with individuals from diverse backgrounds across the country. These experiences shaped my perseverance and reinforced my commitment to not easily giving up.

I was honorably discharged as an army private, grateful for the lessons learned and the bonds forged during this unique chapter of my life.

Growing up in the LDS church, the call to 'serve a mission' after turning 18 was a guiding principle. In the LDS context, serving a mission entails dedicating 18 to 24 months to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and engaging in community service to improve the local area. Despite any shifts in my current views toward the religion, I am grateful for the opportunity to have volunteered two years of my life in Melbourne, Australia.

During this time, I had the privilege of meeting countless individuals and found joy in contributing to various community needs, including gardening, assisting with relocations, car washing, and participating in beach cleaning initiatives. This two-year experience became a rich tapestry of learning, teaching me the importance of adaptability to different cultures, the value of learning from people with diverse backgrounds, the satisfaction of helping within my means, and the significance of listening to and respecting others' valuable opinions.

I concluded my volunteer service at the age of 21, but my commitment to community service continues. I actively seek opportunities to engage in service whenever possible, recognizing the ongoing importance of giving back and making a positive impact in the lives of others.

I have always been captivated by the beauty of nature, whether it's the majesty of mountains or the vastness of the sea. Over the past 5 years, I've been fortunate to call Utah home, affording me the opportunity to explore numerous nearby national parks, including iconic destinations like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone.

The wonders of nature serve as a wellspring of inspiration and solace in the midst of life's uncertainties. During hikes, I find moments of tranquility that allow me to reflect on my life's journey. As I navigate the trails, surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes, I gain not only a deeper appreciation for nature but also a heightened gratitude for the people who become part of my life.

This connection with nature has instilled in me a positive attitude that I believe holds intrinsic value as I transition into the workforce. Nature, with its resilience and beauty, serves as a constant reminder for me of the potential for growth, adaptability, and the importance of appreciating the people and experiences that shape my live.

As I step into the next chapter of my post-college career, I recognize the wealth of knowledge and experience awaiting me. I am eager to translate the lessons I've learned into practical skills and contribute wholeheartedly to my chosen path.

Having often benefited from the support of others, my goals extend beyond personal success. I aspire to be a pillar of support for colleagues and friends alike, cultivating an environment where trust is paramount, and people can rely on my integrity. My experiences of being guided have equipped me with the confidence to lead, and I am eager to take on leadership roles with a foundation of respect and a commitment to embracing the strengths of others.
